Marblehead to hold 9-11 remembrance event
MARBLEHEAD - Local police and firefighters will observe the seventh anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a ceremony of remembrance Thursday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m.
The event will commemorate the events of Sept. 11, 2001 and the losses suffered at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania.
It will be part of a nationwide salute to fallen firefighters, police officers and civilians and the extraordinary response to tragic events that have changed all our lives.
Selectmen were informed of the ceremony in a letter forwarded to the board Monday by Fire Chief Barry C. Dixey.
Police and firefighters are asking local leaders and community members to participate in the remembrance. Further information is available at the Marblehead Fire Department, 781-631-0142.
